Londons Calling - Warp
Chris Moss Acid drops an EP on Hieroglyphic Being's Mathematics label and it's absolutely excellent. These three tracks are of a highly lo-fi experimental acid nature, "Acid Buddy" being the highlight. Rolling chords and mental acid set the scene for this track which has incredible emotional exuberance and energy. Recommended, especially to Ceephax fans.

The new work from of familiar Chicago MATHEMATICS arrives with Steve Poindexter and Adonis! With "the Hieroglyphic Being" name JAMIE 3:26 thing Jamal Moss participates with REMIX! The English woman DJ CHRIS MOSS ACID who was brought up with ACID soaking such as Phuture and Tyree and 808 State in addition to ADONIS! Whether Jamal Moss and the kindred it is unclear, but it adjusted the Mr.Fingers floating impression to Chicago ACID and had 1 it is splendid! The old school the acid phrase which is made beat and which in the basis floats in melody ground and "Niacin's of feeling good A1 Touch" is the paragon!.

Another utterly sick twelve from the Mathematics crew, this time offering up pure, filthy analogue business from the mysterious Chriss Moss Acid, ably assisted and remixed by label boss Jamal Moss, aka Hieroglyphic Being. Constructed using a 707, 303 & ESQ-1, you kinda get an instant idea of the sort of tackle you'll find here - squelchy Chicago acid styles underpinned by lush chords and deft drum programming - kinda like a slightly more refelective variant on James Cotton's more recent Jack excursions. Following on from the more sunshine-inflected "Acid Buddy", the flipside offers the Hieroglyphic Being remix of "Washing Faces" - and it just totally kills it. The bassline plunges deeper, the percussion is tighter and with a dedication to Mr Fingers you can guess where we're heading here : deepest acid variations, Jamal Moss style. Quite an awesome label that seems to be overlooked far too often - analogue heads check this now.
The Sub - Gratis Vibes
Hard-working UK producer Chris Moss takes a break from his TB-303 to give us "The Sub". Released on Wrong Music's netlabel, the album is a break from Chris's usual squelchy acid and 707/909 driven tracks. In fact, "The Sub" sees Chris entering mellow territory ("Up Periscope") and there's even a dreamy tune! ("Love Tip"). But Chris doesn't completely forget his roots. There's a nice phatt bassline in "Homecoming", perhaps the only track with a bit of that acid that Chris is known for. Of the remaining tracks, "Sub Attack" caught my attention the most, differing from the rest of the mostly mellow-sounding tracks, as it sounds quite ominous and dark. Overall, a quirky, cheerful album, do look this up if you like Ceephax Acid Crew. A very melodic and soothing (!) acid release - without the squelch.
